Clavet Shop and Project-Based Work

KPCL is looking for experienced Heavy Duty Mechanics to join our maintenance team at our newly expanded facility near Clavet, Saskatchewan (about 10 minutes east of Saskatoon).

Travel to project locations to support remote maintenance teams will be part of this role. Generally, our project operations are Saskatchewan-based, however, we do work across the western provinces at times.

About you:

  • You have experience developing work scopes and schedules for maintenance and overhaul rebuilds
  • You enjoy working with large equipment – dozers, graders, excavators, scrapers, and haul trucks (safety certification is an asset)
  • You consider yourself to have strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, experience with CAT SIS is an asset
  • You can read electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • You want to work with minimal supervision and are inspired to lead and mentor others sharing your knowledge in a professional manner
  • You are committed to continued learning
  • You have a basic knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft 365
  • You can meet pre-employment conditions, including passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol test (including cannabis) and having a valid driver’s license

KPCL is looking for an experienced Heavy Duty Maintenance Supervisor to join our maintenance team at our newly expanded facility near Clavet, Saskatchewan (about 10 minutes east of Saskatoon). Reporting to the Fleet Maintenance Manager, you will lead and mentor maintenance staff across all operations.

Travel to project locations to support project-based maintenance teams will be part of this role. Generally, our project operations are Saskatchewan-based, however, we do work across the western provinces at times.

About you:

  • You have been working as a heavy-duty mechanic and are ready for a change
  • You have experience developing work scopes and schedules for equipment to be repaired, and scheduling, providing direction and monitoring the maintenance team throughout the completion of running and overhaul repairs
  • You enjoy working with large equipment – dozers, graders, excavators, scrapers, and haul trucks (safety certification is an asset)
  • You consider yourself to have strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, experience with CAT SIS is an asset
  • You can read electrical and hydraulic schematics

HSE Manager

KPCL is seeking an experienced HSE Manager to inspire and lead a culture of safety and compliance throughout corporate and project operations. The successful applicant would work closely with the HSE Manager to provide guidance to Site HSE Advisors.

Where You’ll Be Working

The HSE Manager will be based either out of Clavet or Estevan office facilities, and have the opportunity to travel to a variety of project locations throughout Saskatchewan as part of the role. Current locations are near Cigar Lake, Coronach, Saskatoon, Lanigan, and Rocanville.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Be Doing

Prioritize a culture of safety and compliance amongst employees, contractors and clients through the ongoing implementation and monitoring of the HSE program

Program Advancement and Implementation:

  • Regularly review policies and procedures to ensure they remain current with regulations, client requirements, industry standards, and emerging risks
  • Communicate any HSE Program updates or changes to project teams to ensure they are always informed and compliant
  • Work closely with project leadership and safety teams to develop and update safe work plans/job hazard assessments
  • Lead the development and implementation of HSE training programs, including providing onboarding and industry training to employees and subcontractors
  • Support HSE Advisors with the investigation, documentation, action items and lessons learned following observations, near misses and incident investigations

Safety Performance Metrics:

  • Prepare a monthly report encapsulating the safety performance across all project sites, evaluating this performance against established key performance indicators to identify patterns and trends in incidents and near misses, enabling predictive safety management and risk reduction across all project sites
  • Coach project leadership and safety teams to improve safety performance and the quality of HSE documentation

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Coach project teams to ensure alignment and consistency in the application of the HSE Program across all project sites
  • Actively participate and lead toolbox and safety meetings, site and camp inspections, and review HSE documentation regularly
  • Engage in clear and effective communication to maintain an open line of communication with project sites
  • Train new HSE advisors as we grow and expand our team

Client Relations: Build a relationship of trust and integrity with client’s HSE representatives by understanding client-specific requirements and ensuring safety performance expectations align with shared goals

Prepare HSE documentation as required for the submission of tenders and proposals

Assume the role and duties of a project-based HSE Advisor to provide safety coverage until suitable relief can be arranged

Work closely with HR to support accommodation and modified duty programs as required

Other such duties as required

Qualifications

What You Bring

  • Education: Completion of NCSO designation or an Occupational Health and Safety certificate/diploma from an accredited institution.
  • Experience: 7 years progressive experience with within the civil construction industry.
  • Industry Exposure: Experience working outside of a corporate office environment, preferably in the heavy construction, industrial, mining or related industry
  • Communication Skills: Effective verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to engage and influence individuals in different disciplines and at different levels
  • Motivation: Energized by complexity and challenges, thriving in dynamic and evolving environments
  • Adaptability: Quick to respond to changes while maintaining alignment with long term direction
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety legislation regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365

Where You’ll Be Working

The Site Surveyor will have the opportunity to work at one or more of our many site locations throughout Saskatchewan, and at times Western Canada.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Be Doing

Safety leadership and compliance:

  • Promote and foster a culture of safety and compliance within KPCL’s health, safety and environmental program
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foreman and HSE Advisors to ensure daily activities are carried out safely and economically

On-site survey work:

  • Laying grade stakes and completing survey work using Trimble GPS and Total Station equipment
  • Interpreting construction drawings and implementing designs in the field
  • Tracking design changes and communicating with field staff to implement changes

Tracking progress and completion:

  • Completing month end quantity verification and surface modeling
  • Working closely with Project Leadership team to confirm designs and contract quantities for payment

Supporting communication between site teams

  • Communicate information clearly and effectively to all coworkers, foreman and superintendents,
  • Adapting to meet changing designs and priorities, and helping resolve issues and concerns arising in the field on a timely basis
  • Organize survey data and designs at the project(s)
  • Review and understand measurement and payment terms
  • Create survey checklists and hold points

Qualifications

What You Bring

  • Education: Completion of post-secondary education in surveying, construction management, civil or geological engineering program
  • Experience: 3-7 years of industry experience
  • Industry Exposure:
  • Must be skilled in unsupervised use of GPS and Total Station equipment, and proficient with construction staking (roads, corridors, piping, slopes, etc) and as-built/topographic surveys
  • Adaptability: Quick to respond to changes while maintaining alignment with long term direction
  • Motivation: Energized by complexity and challenges, thriving in dynamic and evolving environments
  • Communication Skills: Effective verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to engage and influence individuals in different disciplines and at different levels
  • Judgment and Problem Solving: Strong judgment and creative problem-solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Proficient with technology, experience with Trimble survey equipment and Trimble Business Centre is considered an asset
  • Experience with volume calculation and design calculations
  • Transport Canada RPAS Advanced (Drone) license considered an asset
